Event Update June 2021

Following the Downing Street announcement on the 14th June postponing Step 4 scheduled for June 21, I am pleased to report that the next two WCOA events – Whitstable and WandererFest – the first since September 2019, excluding the AGMs – will be going ahead.   Firstly, Richard reports from Whitstable YC: The continuing restrictions will not be a problem for sailing or club social life under the May 18 provisions. I will notify visitors coming to WYC for the June 26 Open as to the club’s arrangements prior to the event.  Please use this link for the current situation at the club. Another Cancellation for 2021 Calendar

With regret we announce the cancellation of the “Try-a-Wanderer”event planned for Sunday May 23 2021 at Marlow Sailing Club. Current COVID guidelines effectively prevent mixed crews sailing together and have other implications both on and off the water, all of which conflict with the essence of the Try-a-Wanderer event, which is to give all-comers and their families an opportunity to sail a Wanderer with an experienced helm. As things currently stand, (following, hopefully, the June 21 planned lifting of many restrictions),  Whitstable YC will be hosting the Gavin Barr Trophy event with racing on Saturday June 26 and  a cruise to follow on Sunday June 27. WandererFest is scheduled to start at Cobnor in Chichester Harbour on Thursday July 8 through to Sunday July 11. Because of the re-arranged date for WandererFest, we have, sadly, been forced to cancel this year’s West Country Cruise event. The rest of the programme in August through to October remains unchanged.

Another Event Gains Momentum

Hi folks, It’s half a lifetime to October but by then we could be clear of all the restrictions….hopefully. Which means that the River Dart Laidback Weekend, postponed from last year, will go ahead all being well.  Because of the expected surge in UK staycation holidays, it will be smart to book accommodation ASAP. There has been a lot of interest in this years’ events – please email me or use the online form below. Please note The Manor Inn is FULLY BOOKED with Wanderers already! New Members Database

After a successful trial we have migrated the members database to the website. You might have seen an update on social media last night because at 20:29 the web server had a technical issue which reset some of the website. This was completely unrelated and just purely bad timing. I’d just like to reassure our members that no information was lost nor was any data breached and the site is back up and running. Please take a moment to login to the site and check your details are correct. Some of the bespoke information we keep was not transferred across, specifically boat number, method of payment and your co-owner (if you have one) so I’d like to ask you to double check your information is correct.
