Wanderer (North) Ullswater

The event is based at Ullswater Yacht Club on the quiet road to Howtown on the north east side of the lake. We plan daily cruises to places such as Howtown, Aira Force and Glenridding at the head of the lake with perhaps an odd race.. With Hellevyn raising above the lake, Ullswater is seen by many as the most scenic lake. There will be a full programme of evening social events. Facilities at Ullswater Yacht Club are excellent. There is camping on site with hotels, bed and breakfast, caravan and self catering accommodation nearby. Due to planning conditions camper vans can only stay at the club on Friday and Saturday nights on the Birkett Fields, but there are two caravan sites which all but next door.   Bookings   The day rate is £30 per person a day, with camping at £20 a night (camper vans £25). Wanderer West 2022 – a report of the event

A new event for the WCOA calendar this year was Wanderer West. The event ran from Tuesday 14th to Friday 17th June and was based at Coastland Life in Mylor, near Falmouth.   Our exclusive use of the venue provided us with camping and campervan pitches all with electric hook-up – to keep the milk (beer) cold while we were out sailing. Excellent washroom facilities, communal kitchen, and communal decked area were made full use of by participants. -0-0-0-0- A report by Paul Dufton and Linda Wallsgrove We had a great time on WandererWest 2022! RULES 1.1.  The regatta will be governed by current rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2021 to 2024. 1.2. Prescriptions of the RYA, the Wanderer Class Owners’ Association (WCOA) Class Rules, and West Oxfordshire Sailing Club’s Sailing Instructions 1.3. Racing Rules 27.1 and 40 will be changed to the effect that buoyancy aids are required. 1.4 The changes will appear in full in the Sailing Instructions. Competitors should note that West Oxfordshire Sailing Club implements the RYA Racing Charter. Arnside Weekend Wander 22

Racing and Cruising in the River Kent Estuary Alasdair Simpson is our WCOA member at this well regarded club close to the head of Morecambe Bay and has been shortlisted for RYA Sailing Club of the Year. There is a vast tidal range and sailing occurs either side of HW.  The location provides some stunning scenery and could also interest WCOA members who find themselves in the Lake District region in August.  This will a repeat of the 2021 inaugural event at Arnside SC.
