I have a Yamaha 2.5hp 4 stroke. It’s not the short shaft but works well for the boat. I have one of the stand off pads that it is mounted on. Important thing is making sure that the prop is low enough in the water to be effective and also if water cooled that the intake is also in the water. Weighs around 18/19kg
A few people at my sailing club have the Honda air cooled engines which are lighter and don’t need flushing after use on the sea.
