NEW WANDERER CLASS TEAM


Wanderers have reshuffled their National Committee. See 'Officers' web page here. Following the Feb 10th 2007 WCOA Committee meeting the following line-up now applies:-

David Davies is now Vice-Chairman, Mike Hamilton becomes Racing Secretary in addition to his role as Exhibitions Secretary, Chris King becomes Membership Secretary, Tim Robertson becomes Cruising Secretary, and Stan Telling becomes Class Archivist

Terry Pullen continues in his role as Webmaster and Magazine Editor, and Steve Harvey remains Technical Secretary.    

Philip Meadowcroft, Jean Whittaker (assisted by John Talbot who also assists the Exhibitions Secretary), and Robin Gabbitas remain, respectively, as Class Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer.   Magazine & Website advertising sales will be coordinated by Robin Gabbitas.

Wanderer Clothing sales and Database Management will each continue to be handled by Vicky King and Jill Meadowcroft .

Gavin Barr and Andy Peter have retired from the National Committee after more than 30 years combined service which has been of immeasurable value to the Association.

A complete overhaul of the recruitment and retention of new and current members will be a key 2007 focus for a project team led by Chris King and his wife Vicky.

The 2007 National Championships and Rally will be hosted by Whitstable YC on July 14/15 and a special first day feature will be two passage races in which cruising members will be strongly encouraged to participate.   The weekend’s activities are being particularly designed to be equally attractive to cruisers as well as racers.    

The ever-popular Training Weekend returns once again to South Cerney SC over the weekend of May12/13.     This year the training sessions will be led by Ian Porter and, with support from National Committee members, will cover aspects of racing, cruising, and pottering from complete novice to experienced dinghy helms. A three-race event follows on the Sunday.

The 2007 Inland Championships return to Bewl Valley SC to wind up the season on October 6/7.

Nine racing and seven cruising events are lined up for 2007.   Host clubs for race meetings include Crawley Mariners YC, Silver Wing SC, South Cerney SC, National Sailing Academy at Weymouth, Salcombe YC,  Carsington SC, and Bosham SC.   Cruises are planned for The Solent, Mudeford, Whitstable, Poole and Chichester Harbours, Falmouth, and the Essex/ Suffolk estuaries.
