New Wanderer Esprit on Cobnor Hard Bosham SC Nov 2005. The new Wanderer Esprit seen here at Bosham SC [Cobnor Hard] during IPD/Porter's November presentation to the WCOA Committee.  The hull is exactly as per the current boat, most of the changes are connected with the new cockpit/foredeck design and construction methods and materials.
WCOA committee members discuss aspects of the new Esprit with Ian Porter of Porter Brothers, at right in red splash jacket, during the joint IPD/Porter's presentation on November 5th 2005.
A view of the cockpit looking aft showing the clean layout and self draining facility. There are no floorboards with this version.  The thwart was not fitted to the prototype boat but will be an option as will an aft locker, similar to the Wayfarer 'World' by the same builder.
View looking forward showing lack of thwart.  Note also the reduction in buoyancy tank height under the foredeck giving more storage volume and easier access. The centreboard is now constructed of grp.
Note the lack of the usual full height tabernacle side beams further improving access to mast foot and under foredeck storage.  The mast now pivots, for raising/lowering, from two new downstand projections built into the new foredeck design.
Unimpeded access to the mast foot, slot and securing pin. Note the lack of the tabernacle side beams and the lowered buoyancy tank profile.
Keith Proctor - representing Ian Proctor Design Partnership and responsible for design aspects of the new Esprit.
Ian Porter supports the Esprit's mast head while demonstrating the capsize position. The committee considered that the new boat's redesigned buoyancy caused her to float too high in the water, similar to the Wanderer prior to the MD [Margaret Dye] modification. This aspect is being addressed by IPD and Porters.
The new 'curvier' transom showing the simple aft mainsheet rig and grp rudder blade.  The transom flaps for the self draining cockpit are not visible in this shot.
