WCOA - SAILING PROGRAMME FOR 2008 SEASON |

2008 Programme: Your Committee's preparation's for the 2008 sailing season Programme are complete and the final programme is shown below. The Racing and Cruising Secretaries extend their thanks to the many Members who gave their time and input into making the 2007 programme a success and look forward to similar co-operation with the 2008 Sailing Programme. Almanac: Details of the sailing programme will be included in the next Spring issue of the Wanderer Magazine during early April with full details, Almanac and event application slips being included. Training Day:
The Training event, to be held over April 19th - 20th 2008
at Bosham Sailing Club on Chichester Harbour, is particularly recommended to new Wanderer owners or
those considering purchase of this dinghy. For the first time this
event is being held on tidal waters and it is hoped that aspects of
sailing a Wanderer in such waters will be incorporated into the training
agenda. Unlike previous Training events the Sunday of the weekend
will be a cruise rather than a series of races. Professional training,
it is hoped by Ian Porter again, including boat
handling, tuning and 'classroom' and 'on the water' is on offer.
This event is recommended for all Wanderer owners whether cruiser, potterer or racer - so book early. The 'Try a Wanderer' event -
associated with the Training is to be confirmed. |
| Every reasonable effort will be made to avoid conflicts within the Sailing Programme. However given the number of events, the reliance [in some instances] on suitable tides, availability of some venues and of course the time and involvement of the volunteer organiser it is not always possible to avoid clashes between some events. The Committee hope that this will not detract from the overall scope, variety and enjoyment of the 2008 Sailing Programme. |
| The Committee would like to extend it's thanks to those Members and others who have, once again in 2006, volunteered to help organise our extensive sailing programme. We are always seeking new cruise / racing organisers and venues, if you feel able to assist in either of these rewarding activities or have any comments or suggestions please contact either Mike Hamilton or Tim Robertson respectively for racing and cruising.
