Wanderer Cruising for 2004 - What of the Future?   Updated 21/01/2004

Click for larger view - Cruising on Derwentwater Autumn 2003 with Borrowdale as a backdropI am sure that all Wanderer owners who enjoy day cruising at the many WCOA organised events would wish to join me in a sincere "thank you" to the dedicated WCOA Members who have given of their time to organise the cruising events for this past
2003 season.

These activities, whether it be exploring the West
Wales, West Country estuaries and creeks,  pottering in Poole and Chichester Harbours, experiencing the East Coast rivers like the Orwell, Stour and Swale, and cruising in the Lake District are only made possible by members, such as yourselves, sharing their enjoyment of day cruising in the company of other Wanderer owners.

With the 2003 season coming to an end our thanks and appreciation go to:-

David Davies [West Country],
John Ponsford [Poole Harbour],
Stephen Clampin [East Coast],
David Botterill [Dale - Pembroke],
Ian & Glenda Nevill [Whitstable],
Mike Cook {Chichester Harbour],
John & Ann Eakin [Kielder Water], and
Terry Pullen [Derwent Water].

The plans for the 2004 Sailing programme are complete but the Committee are keen to extend the number of organisers and cruising venues for 2004 and beyond. We would very much welcome 'new blood' into the happy WCOA cruise organiser fraternity for the coming season.  If you are interested in getting involved in organising and leading a cruise for the membership then we will be extremely pleased to hear from you - see contact details below.

This is not an onerous task and there is much pleasure and satisfaction to be had in organising a successful day cruise for your fellow members.  It is perhaps best considered as cruising your own favourite and familiar stretch of water and inviting other Wanderer owners to share in the experience.

Perhaps some of you may be put off volunteering for this activity because you consider that having organised a cruise for one season that you are expected to continue for the foreseeable future - this is not the case. 'One-off' events
at varying locations would be most welcome and add 'spice' to the Programme.  It is true that many that many of this year's organisers are 'old hands' at the cruise organising business but this level of enthusiasm is directly attributable to the degree of satisfaction obtained and they continue to offer freely of their organisational skills.

So if you would like to offer your help in arranging a cruise for the membership during the 200
4 or future seasons then please be assured that you will be given all the help, encouragement and assistance you need.  All cruising venues would be appreciated, however we would be particularly grateful if members familiar with the Norfolk Broads, Wales [Bala] and Lake District areas could volunteer as these cruising areas have proven to be very popular in the past with the membership.

Please consider volunteering and giving something back to your Class Association by becoming a Cruise Organiser
- even if for only a single event.  Contact the WCOA Cruising Secretary, Terry Pullen W863 to offer you services or discuss any aspect of becoming a Wanderer cruise organiser - I  look forward to hearing from you. Your contribution to the Association will be very welcome and much appreciated.
