Bank Holiday Weekend
Saturday 25th August & Sunday 26th August at Carsington SC

This event is being organised slightly differently to previous years.

We have changed the format to encourage as many people/boats as possible to get out onto the water, compete and be able to win. We have also been asked to make the event different to normal club racing:

* So there will be 3 races on both Saturday and Sunday, but only three races count for the series. [First Start 1100, Second Start 1330, Third Start 1530 - approximately!]

* So we are not insisting on a donation - your choice/your conscience. You can donate more, or less, or to a charity of your own choosing. We suggest a donation of £5/head/boat/day to the Donna Louise Trust, which is a Children's Hospice. [For visitors this is actually less than our day sailing rate!]

* So you can pick and choose which races you enter and in which boat. So a Mum and Dad with one Laser can share the baby-sitting and each enter three races. [Clever, eh?!]

*So there will be two starts - one for the cruisers and one massed start for the dinghies, cats and windsurfers. [Relax. Jed, our Race Officer intends to set a really long starting line so you can spread out. ] Since this is an Open Event - which means visitors are welcome - we can expect a few pothunters. The Wanderers are certainly coming as it is a big event for them - they will have their own set of results [4/6 races?] as well as being eligible for the Charity Cup prizes. We'd like the water to be a hive of activity with everyone on their best and most gracious behaviour. { I promise not to yell "green spots - keep clear as I'm out of control " as I go round the marks. So yes. I am hoping to sail but that will depend on the number of people offering to do official duties!]

* So it is a sociable event - there will be enough time between each race to return to the shore and sample the delights of the canteen. [The canteen has been nicked-named "Satan's Kitchen" due to the temptation of the many fabulous home-made cakes!] The cruiser fleet will also be given time to moor up - you never know we might be able to organise "meals on outboards" if cruisers really want to stay out on their moorings.

* So Satan's Kitchen [that name just might, might stick!] are putting on a Pie and Mash supper on the Saturday night. This is THE most popular meal on a Wednesday evening so if you've not sampled it yet your tickets quick as we will also be joined by members of a Riding Club [horses!! - I don't think there are tying them up on the gate post but you never know!] As for the music - we are thinking of asking you to bring your favourite CDs - we will charge £1 for you to put them on the PA system - you are guaranteed at least one track! [Anything is better than the "Sing Something Simple" we had the other Sunday!]

* So there is also talk of a Bouncy Castle [but we need a sponsor/s for this - £40 or else it will end up costing us money instead of raising money - any volunteers amongst the parents/grandparents to organise an initial whip-round and then charge so much a go]?

SO IT SHOULD BE GOOD, DO COME ALONG, ENJOY YOURSELVES

DO IT ALL FOR CHARITY!
