General Information:-
Please take a few minutes to read the following information.
This is the long promised index page to all your memorable past and current
photos of Wanderer related events whether they be of organised racing, cruising,
long passage cruise, socialising or just plain having fun pottering in your
boat.
If you have some particular examples of photos you wish to see published up on
our web site, to share with other online WCOA Members - not to mention a few
million others on the www - then please send them to me and I will do my
best to get them on display as quickly as possible.
Click
here for how to upload your digital Wanderer pictures yourself to the Wanderer
Group 'Forum' hosted by Yahoo. If you are not a member then click
here.
How to get them to me? The following methods would be suitable - a) post me the
original or copy, with return details on the reverse, [if you wish me to return]
and I will scan the image, b) send me a floppy disc or PhotoCD [with return
details] with the image(s) concerned identified and stored in any common graphic
format [ jpeg, gif, png, bmp, tiff etc] or c) better still, email
it to me as an 'attachment'.
It would be helpful and of interest to others if you could include some
caption information to accompany the photo such as date, venue, event,
persons/boats featured, photographer, what's going on etc.
Don't forget that pictures on the www take more time to download than simple
graphics and plain text. The pictures will be arranged as 'thumbnails' -
miniature versions of the original for you to view initially and then decide
which to select, by clicking on it, for viewing at full size. This will
help avoid unnecessarily lengthy waits for pictures you didn't really want to
view anyway! I will also optimise them for viewing on a computer
screen to further improve download times. This will mean that if you
decide to print out a copy that the quality of the 'paper' version will be less
than when viewed on screen.
There is also the issue of copyright to consider.
In all probability you will not have any great concerns in this area but please
bare in mind that once images are published on the web site anyone who takes a
'fancy' to your photo can download it and use it for their 'own purposes'
without necessarily asking for your permission even though the Copyright remains
with the original photographer. If you do have any worries in this respect
then it is probably best not to publish in the manner intended for our web site.
Either way I will attempt to get you published on the www and what better way to
promote our Association and the enjoyment of Wanderer Dinghy sailing than by
photos of Members doing just that!
if you have any queries concerning any of the above please call or email me and
i will be please to advise accordingly.
Creating a
Photo Album on the Wanderer Group 'Forum'.
Once you are a full member of the
Wanderer group 'Forum' you will be able to get your digital//scanned
photos online very quickly by creating a Photo 'Album' at the wanderer
group forum 'Photos' section.
It is very simple to do and there are
easy to follow instruction available during the process. However there
are a few things to do before attempting to upload your pictures:-
 | Locate and group all the pictures
into a single folder on your computer's hard disk; |
 | Crop, enhance, add text and
generally tweak all photos with your graphics program as necessary; |
 | Decide on a title and short
description for each picture, if you wish this to be displayed with
your pictures; |
 | Go online, log on to http://groups.yahoo.com/
and sigh in with your ID and password; |
 | Select wandererdinghy from your list
of groups or go straight there; |
 | Locate and click on the 'photos'
link at the lhs of the page and follow the instructions from there.
