ACQUISITION & INAUGURAL SAIL OF W1461

I
visited the London Boat Show [Jan 2005] and looked at many competing designs before choosing a Wanderer.  When Deja Vu (Sail No.1461) became available [on WCOA web site] we bought it and launched it into the Lymington river for the first time on Easter Day.

We wanted a boat that would suit an old grandpa like me who is not as agile as he once was, but the boat also had to be stable enough for the grandchildren to sail.  The boat has to take an adult and three children but must also be easy to sail single handed in the Solent. Our Wanderer meets all these needs perfectly.

Three photos of Launch Day are included here:-

Champagne CeremonyLaunch:  Emily pours ceremonial champagne over the foredeck before launching the boat.

Next generation of Wanderer SailorsSeaDogs:  The next generation of dinghy sailors kitted up and ready to go.  Our four grandchildren aged 11,10,9 and 8 just couldn't wait to get out on the water.

Too Close an Encounter with the Lymington - IOW FerryFerry Encounter!:   Granny was taken for a spin and had a close encounter with the Wight Link ferry. Luckily the ferry wasn't going fast but the picture shows how we must all keep a look out in case something nasty sneaks up on us.

Regards,

Adam Reay W1461 April 2005.

PS I am just about post my memebership cheque and look forward to meeting fellow Wanderer sailors at some of the meets. (Ours is now the 7th Wanderer at Lymington Town Sailing Club.)
