The intention of this cruise is to have a second attempt at exploring the Cleddau estuary from the Dale public slipway

 

 

Advice to Participants:

 

all helms and crews taking part do so at their own risk. participation is at the sole and absolute discretion of each individual. neither the organiser or the wcoa accept any responsibility or liability arising from any accident or other incident during this event.

it is the responsibility of each boat owner to ensure that they have effective and valid marine insurance for their dinghy, including third party cover for at least £2,000,000.

all helms and crews must wear personal buoyancy all times whilst afloat.

 

Tidal Estuary / Open water sailing

 

Every Helm should be able to manoeuvre their boat safely in a fresh breeze (up to Force 5) on all points of sail and be competent in capsize recovery, reefing afloat, and anchoring.

 

Accommodation:

 

The organiser is staying in a Self Catering cottage at nearby St Anne’s head.

 

Other participants should find suitable accommodation local to Dale.

Safety:

 

An up to date inshore forecast will be provided at the start of each day and will guide the choice of destination or advice on whether to proceed at all.

 

Milford Haven is an active commercial port serving traditional ro-ro ferries and huge commercial shipping. Stay well clear of all big ships.

Packed lunch ashore somewhere – bring your own

 

Suggest either nosing out of the estuary on the ebb and riding the early flood back in to Dale, or possibly pushing up tide across to Angle and Pembroke, with maybe a trip under the Cleddau bridge and as far up as we feel we want to go remembering we will probably be beating back down river against the first of a foul flood tide.
